The Personal Peace Procedure

I wrote this post in January when I was hosting a Peace Procedure workshop, but I feel it is ok to post it as I have been thinking of this procedure and creative writing. I won't go into all of the details, but when I do Peace Procedure or EFT tapping, I end up with lots of story ideas and poems, all of which I write in my journal, although I may not publish. So, at this point, I have a chunky collection of them.
When I first wrote this post it was more about the beginning of the New Year, and letting go, and about releasing the weight of the past to create space for calm, clarity and growth. I see the Peace Procedure was one of the tools that is super helpful in this path of inner freedom, of ease and peace. It does not mean that you are not aware of the injustices in this world, but you are able to navigate it in a way that is more productive, less reactive.
Every time I use this process, Personal Peace Procedure through EFT Tapping, a clearing occurs, I peel of these emotional layers, old memories that sometime creep up to unsettle and they speak of what I could have done and didn't, and how time is passing, or whatever it is that the chorus of voices might say, or I will show a moving trailer in my mind of some unresolved event. peeling away the emotional layers tied to old memories or unresolved events. By acknowledging and tapping through these emotions, I find myself lighter, clearer, and more open to the possibilities ahead. It’s a reminder that peace isn’t something we find it’s something we create, one step at a time.
My research show that the Peace Procedure was developed by Steve Wells and Dr. David Lake, two Australian psychologists and energy psychology practitioners. They are known for their innovations in Simple Energy Techniques (SET) and their adaptations of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). Amazing.
The Peace Procedure is designed to systematically identify and clear emotionally charged memories using tapping. Do you have some memory or thought that returns again and again? Well this might be just the right procedure for you. The Peace Procedure invites individuals to list distressing events and then apply EFT (or SET) to each one, reducing emotional intensity and promoting inner peace. It’s often used alongside the Personal Peace Procedure, popularized by Gary Craig, the founder of EFT. I use a lot of his work, so check his website.
How You Can Start:
Write down specific events or memories that still bother you.
Rate their intensity on a scale of 0-10
Tap through the emotions, gently releasing their hold on you.
Start with the Side of the hand
Celebrate the sense of calm and freedom that grows with each step.

EFT Tapping: A Short Narrative for Practice & Reflection
Begin gently at the side of your hand. Tap here while saying aloud or to yourself:
“Even though I feel this [emotion, thought, memory], I accept myself just as I am.”
Repeat this phrase three times, allowing honesty to rise without judgment.
Then, move through the points:
Top of the Head – Tap lightly.“This feeling…”
Eyebrow – Where the hair begins.“It’s here in me…”
Side of Eye – Temple area.“I notice this part of me…”
Under Eye – Bone beneath the eye.“Still feeling it…”
Under Nose – Above the lips.“It’s okay to feel this…”
Chin – In the groove between lips and chin.“Letting it be here…”
Collarbone – Just below the bone, toward the center.“I’m listening…”
Under Arm – About 4 inches below the armpit.“I’m noticing…”
After a few rounds, pause. Breathe.
You may choose to end a round with:
“And I deeply and completely love and accept myself,”or “This is how I feel right now.”
Repeat the sequence until the emotional intensity lowers. Allow what arises to be enough.
Then, write in your journal:
What emotions surfaced?
Did a memory emerge?
Was there a story or image?
If a poem wants to form, let it.
This is both a technique and a ritual: a way to meet yourself, one tap, one word, one breath at a time.

About me - Annecy Báez
I am an educator, psychotherapist, mixed media collage artist, and the author of My Daughter’s Eyes and Other Stories. As a facilitator for SoulCollage® and Amherst Writers & Artists (AWA), I integrate energy healing, dreamwork, and writing to foster growth and connection. My work with individuals and groups focuses on empowering people to embrace their unique stories and tap into the healing power of creativity and self-expression.
My journey with EFT began after the passing of my late husband, as a way to process my grief. EFT became a source of comfort and healing during that challenging time. While I initially chose to train in EMDR for several years, I eventually found my way back to EFT. Under the mentorship of two incredible teachers at EFT International, I deepened my understanding and practice of this transformative technique.
EFT has not only helped me personally but has also inspired me professionally. I plan to continue studying EFT and teaching it to my clients. One of the most powerful tools I’ve discovered is the Personal Peace Procedure. This practice has not only supported my emotional well-being but has also enhanced my creative writing.
In a future post, I’ll share how writing and the Personal Peace Procedure intertwine in my life, offering healing and inspiration in unexpected ways. Stay tuned!
